DESCRIPTION:
APW - South Bend, Grade 295 (marked), 21J, 16S, gold-filled OF original South Bend case, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, sunburst pattern nickel damascene, s#470250. An uncommon and very attractive top grade watch; the Grade 295 and its hunting case equivalent the Grade 294 were South Bend's finest quality early 16 size products. The total production of the Grade 295 was 1500 made which includes 500 examples that were marked "Polaris."
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, some fine to micro-fine scratches, regulator with fine scratch striations from a past sanding and with some pitting, balance jewel setting is a brass replacement; dial with light perimeter hl between 7 and 8, some micro-fine scratches; excellent hands; case shows medium wear, scattered dings to band, reduced engraving detail with areas of full loss; tight brassy bow, crown shows medium wear; good glass crystal.
